Compare complete offers, not just the shipping line
Use one pair, size, destination and currency when comparing written offers. These invented figures teach the arithmetic; they are not GUMSHOE shipping rates, a tax assessment or an offer you can accept. Payment remains after a confirmed written offer.
- Write the exact pair, condition, EU size and destination country on both records. If those differ, explain the difference before comparing totals. Keep a seller reference and the quote’s validity date.
- Separate item price, shipping and any mandatory handling charge. Ask whether tax is already included and who pays import charges. Do not add a stated tax twice, or enter zero for a charge that is unknown.
- Reconcile the fictional example: A is USD 300 + 25 shipping = 325. B is USD 300 + 20 shipping + 15 handling = 335. The cheaper shipping line produces the higher quoted total.
- Before accepting, confirm the total payable to the seller and any costs collected separately, plus dispatch, delivery and return terms. If destination charges remain unknown, mark the delivered total incomplete rather than choosing a winner from a partial sum.
