What a measurement can do

A foot measurement gives the seller information to compare with the actual size and shape of a shoe. It does not automatically translate into a GUMSHOE size. Size systems, labels, width and the intended fit have to be matched to the specific model.

Use the socks you expect to wear and measure both feet. If standing comfortably is difficult, ask someone to help; do not strain to follow the worksheet.

Make a simple record

  1. Put a sheet of paper on a level surface against a wall. Use a pencil and a millimetre ruler.
  2. Stand with your heel gently at the wall, wearing your intended socks.
  3. Have a helper mark the farthest toe and the widest points without pressing the pencil into the foot.
  4. Measure from the wall edge to the toe mark in millimetres. Record the widest span separately.
  5. Repeat on the other foot and repeat the measurement once to check it.
  6. Send both measurements, your usual labelled size, the size system and any fit preference to the seller.

Use the comparison worksheet

The tool reports the longer measurement and the difference between your feet. It does not recommend a size or add an arbitrary allowance. Values stay in this page and are not sent to a server.

Enter both measurements. This is a measurement record, not a size recommendation.

Example

Left foot: 264 mm. Right foot: 267 mm. The longer measurement is 267 mm and the difference is 3 mm. Give the seller both measurements. Ask how they compare with the fit information for the exact model and size; do not turn 267 mm into an EU number using a chart from another brand.

Check the fit when it is appropriate to try on

  • Follow the seller’s indoor try-on and return conditions.
  • Check both feet with the intended socks.
  • Look for heel movement, toe pressure and pressure at the widest part.
  • If fit is uncomfortable, seek a different fit rather than treating pain as a required break-in.

  1. LEFT / 264 mm: An example measurement, not a size chart.
  2. RIGHT / 267 mm: Repeat each measurement to check it.
  3. LONGER / 267 mm: Record the longer foot and both widths.
  4. DIFFERENCE / 3 mm: Give both measurements to the seller.
